Sometimes your ideal time to visit Renishaw Hall vineyard may not fit with our tour schedule, so we’ve come up with the perfect solution. Self-guided vineyard tours and wine flights giving you the flexibility to discover one of England’s oldest vineyards at your own pace.

Here’s how it works. Visit the Renishaw Hall Café (open March to October Wed-Sun 9am-4.30pm and November & December Thurs-Sun 9am-4pm). Purchase a wine flight – allowing you to try any two or three of our wines in 70ml tasting portions. You can choose from our full range of two traditional-method sparkling wines and three still wines.

You’ll receive a map and once you’ve wandered up to the vineyard you can follow the numbered signs each revealing fascinating details about your surroundings.

The self-guided tour is a great way to take in the walled-garden vineyard whilst learning a little about its history and grape growing in this part of England.

The view changes from season to season and whether you visit while the vines are dormant, as they come to life in Spring, during the fruiting season or after the grape harvest, you’ll be able to enjoy the beauty of this Derbyshire vineyard at a time that suits you.

When you’ve finished you can pop past the gift shop and pick up a bottle of the award-winning wines, all made by Kieron Atkinson of English Wine Project, to take home.

Now you can raise a glass to locally grown, locally produced wine at a time to suit you.

Book onto a guided tour to learn more and enjoy a guided tasting of our full range of wines.

That’s most people’s reaction when visiting Renishaw Hall Vineyard for the first time. Some have lived in the area their entire life and never discovered this hidden gem.

With the popularity of English wine soaring and more people keen to try local wine, English Wine Project has hosted record numbers of vineyard tours in 2026 and there will be even more running in 2027. There’s also been a significant increase in private tours with people keen to mark a celebration amongst the vines.

Visitors love the back to nature experience with the opportunity to taste the wines as they sit under the stretch tent looking out over the beautiful vines.

It’s been wonderful to welcome back returning visitors who are delighted to show off the stunning walled garden vineyard to their friends and family.

English Wine Project, led by Kieron Atkinson, farms the land and makes the wines at his urban winery in Darley Abbey, meaning our small team can share the story from grape to glass.Whether you have wine knowledge or are simply curious to find out more about local wines, our relaxed vineyard tours with guided wine tastings are the perfect way to discover what is being produced on your doorstep. They also make the perfect gift experience with vouchers available.

Some achievements need celebrating and we’re extremely proud that Kieron Atkinson, founder of English Wine Project, has been awarded ‘Best Commercial Grower / Winemaker 2026’ in the WineGB Midlands & North Awards. This is fantastic testament to Keiron’s commitment to producing quality English wines.

Kieron has farmed the vines at Renishaw Hall vineyard since 2011 and makes the wines at his urban winery in Darley Abbey, Derby.

Personally seeing the winemaking process through from grape to glass is more unusual than you might think as many vineyards don’t have their own winemaking facilities and are supported by contract winemakers. At English Wine Project Kieron manages it all.

The independent judges at the WineGB Midlands & North Awards were delighted with the quality and diversity of wines from the region. Entries to the 2026 awards were up 70% on the previous year and all three of the Renishaw Hall wines entered achieved silver medals:

  • Renishaw Hall Vintage Cuvee White Sparkling 2023 (made with Seyval Blanc & Chardonnay)
  • Renishaw Hall Walled Garden White 2025 (made with Madeleine Angevine, Solaris and Seyval Blanc)
  • Renishaw Hall Walled Garden Red 2025 (100% Rondo)

Every year Kieron carefully monitors the growing cycle to allow him to produce wines that are the best expression of the vintage. It is rare to be able to make single varietals, but the 2025 Red is 100% Rondo which can only be produced in exceptional years. The 2026 season has produced another crop of beautifully ripe grapes so look out for more fantastic wines. The best way to taste our range is to join a guided tour & tasting which take place seasonally at the Renishaw Hall vineyard and all year round at the urban winery.

Hen dos, birthdays, a club or society outing, a get together with friends – our private vineyard or winery tours and tastings are perfect for any kind of special occasion.

Imagine sitting amongst the vines, or tanks and barrels, surrounded by your friends and family for your very own tour and guided wine tasting.

We’ll take things at your pace, getting you up close to the vines or behind the scenes in the urban winery. Of course, there will be a tasting of our award-winning sparkling and still wines.

If you’re looking for refreshments we can arrange that too. At the vineyard we can combine your visit with a light lunch or afternoon tea at the Renishaw Hall Café – just a short stroll from the vines. In the winery we can provide delicious platters of cheese and charcuterie from local suppliers.

With the growth of popularity in English wines, there’s never been a better time to plan a celebration in your local vineyard or winery.
